A BLIND long jumper has leapt into winning place in a stunning picture from a photography ‘heroes’ of the year competition.
The best snaps of the year have been compiled from all over the world, capturing the beauty of our natural world and the people and animals within it.
Throughout the year, photographers from across the globe submitted images to match the themes of reflections, beauty, road trips and fun.
The broad array of snaps have been compiled by Agora Images in celebration of World Photography Day – an annual, worldwide celebration of the art, craft, science and history of photography.
Spanish sports photographer Pedro Luis Ajuriaguerra Saiz captured the moment blind long jumper Xavi Porras strode across the finish line during a Para-Olympic event in Spain.
Siaz effortlessly caught the moment Porras realises a masterful jump mid-air.
British photographer Hugo Healy captured an ariel view of Indonesia’s largest waterfall from deep in the jungle with a backdrop of Semeru volcano.
He described the breathtaking scenery as: “Views straight out of Jurassic park.”
Gorgeous images such as Michele D’Amico’s photo of a happy lion family shot in Tanzania feature in the collection.
Zaw Zaw Kaung San’s photo of two laughing elderly ladies from Myanmar titled ‘Smile’ picked up the top prize for the ‘Fun’ themed competition.
