It’s fair to say the former Leicester speedster isn’t known for his heading ability.
The ball fell perfectly into the feet of Ayew who sprinted forward and slotted past David De Gea in the United goal.
It was route one football at its best – but it left United fans furious on social media.
And Lindelof, who is expected to remain in the first choice centre-half partnership with Harry Maguire this season, came in for a lot of stick.
Steve Langton asked on Twitter: “How’s Lindelof not won that header?? #AmateurHour.”
Another United fan wrote that it was “the same s*** defending from Lindelof”, while others described him as “the weakest link”.
