HOLLYWOOD star Kevin Hart and his driver suffered “major back injuries” in a car crash in the Malibu Hills, according to US reports.
A highly-powerful Plymouth Barracuda belonging to the comedian is said to have veered off the road on the Mulholland Highway in California.
Sources told TMZ the rare vehicle turned up in a ditch about 10 feet off the side of the winding road after it smashed through a wooden fence.
The 40-year-old was not driving at the time of the horror crash and his driver had not been drinking, the report said.
The roof of the 1970 Barracuda – a 720bhp muscle car known as the Menace – was almost completely crushed in the crash, photos published in the US show.
A female passenger in the vehicle was reportedly unhurt in the crash in the early hours of Sunday morning, reports Fox News.
Neither the driver nor the other passengers have yet been identified.
A witness claimed Hart got out of the vehicle first, where a member of his security team picked him up in an SUV.
Insiders said Hart first went home for medical treatment before he checked into a nearby hospital.
Some reports claimed he was trapped in his beloved car after the crash, but these have not been confirmed.
Hart had bought the car as a 40th birthday present for himself in July.
The stand-up star has become one of the highest paid stars in the movie industry – with a string of big screen hits to his name.
The former shoe salesman’s breakthrough role came on the TV series Undeclared, which soon led to parts in Scary Movie, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Meet Dave.
Over his career, his rise to one of the highest-paid stand-ups and his burgeoning Hollywood movie catalogue, he has amassed a staggering net worth of $120million.
Hart’s comedic reputation in Hollywood was enhanced by starring roles in Think Like a Man, Grudge Match, and the Ride Along franchise alongside Ice Cube.
He appeared with Will Ferrell in 2015’s Get Hard and has twice co-starred beside Dwayne Johnson in box office smash-hits, Central Intelligence and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
