Back in July it was rumoured that the channel was hoping for a bombshell appearance from the US President on the first episode.
Reports claimed that Fox, one of the Donald’s favourite channels, were discussing the move with the WWE and its owner Vince McMahon.
A member of the SmackDown creative team reportedly said that a cameo for the leader of the free world – who has a long association with the company – was being written.
He said: “Fox have asked for Trump so I’m trying to write something short and easy for him that makes him look good.
“Vince [McMahon] doesn’t like us to say anything bad about Trump so I’m just doing the best I can.”
But now it appears Trump won’t be returning to the ring just yet after wrestling journalist Brad Shepard revealed on his podcast that the President’s diary was “too full”.
The WWE denied ever reaching out to the White House to request an appearance by the President.
The US leader was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 and has made numerous guest appearances on the wrestling company’s television over the years.
He even hosted WrestleMania IV and V at Trump Plaza in New Jersey in 1988 and 1989 respectively.
But Trump’s most famous foray into the squared-circle occurred in 2007 in a hair vs. hair match with McMahon.
