Tyson Fury trainer Ben Davison hits back after Gypsy King’s dad urged son to sack him after Wallin fight
BEN DAVISON has hit back after Tyson Fury’s dad accused him of putting his son’s career in danger.
The Gypsy King, 31, was almost derailed by huge underdog Otto Wallin in what was supposed to be a warm-up fight for his rematch with Deontay Wilder.
After watching the former champ battle to a points win hindered by two deep cuts, John Fury called for Davison to be sacked.
But the up-and-coming trainer hit back as he tweeted: “he’s [Tyson Fury] had a tough fight which clearly won, after being cut terribly not only 1 but 2 cuts. Sometimes you can’t win”
Fury was rushed to hospital for surgery after suffering two horrific cuts in his victory over Wallin as his dad fears for his career.
In the third round, he was hurt badly by a left hook which caught him flush above the right eye.
The towering heavyweight managed to battle on for the full 12 rounds and earned a unanimous points decision.
But Fury did not hold a press conference and instead was taken straight to hospital to get his eye patched up, with suggestions he may need plastic surgery to fix him up.
Dad John roared: “I knew there was a problem after the first round, there was no snap in his punches.
“It was a very untidy affair. How does a man like limited Otto Wallin get that close to a 6ft 9in man with a brilliant jab?
“It all went out the window, he got cut and threw caution to the wind. His chin was in the air, his feet were flat, there was nothing good about it at all.

“An injury like that could finish his career, he might need surgery on that. I am worried about that cut.”
Davison has been credited with helping Fury battle back from depression and substance abuse problems since linking up with the fighter.
He has also helped him shed the pounds to look in the best shape he has been in since a stunning upset victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
