Man Utd lining up Toni Kroos transfer in sensational swap deal with Paul Pogba
MANCHESTER UNITED want to make a move for Real Madrid’s German superstar Toni Kroos, according to a report.
The 29-year-old has been on the Red Devils’ radar for a long time – but signing him may mean Paul Pogba going the other way.
David Moyes came close to bringing Kroos to Old Trafford back in 2013 – only for the deal to fall through at the last minute. The ex-Bayern man then moved to Madrid a year later.
German newspaper Bild claim that United have reignited their interest in the 2014 World Cup winner – and would be willing to pay £66.9million for his services.
Real Madrid, however, are desperate to land Paul Pogba – and could use the Red Devils’ interest in Kroos as leverage to finally get their man.
Whether Kroos would actually be interested in moving to Manchester United though, a club without Champions League football, could complicate the deal.
When asked by reporters about the prospect of Pogba joining Madrid, Kroos said: “I like this player but nothing changes for me.
“I will continue doing what I’ve done all these years, fighting for my place, playing well, and when I’m at a good level I think I have no problems.”

Kroos endured a difficult year last season. After being part of the Germany team that flopped to a group stage exit on their defence of the World Cup – his Real Madrid side slumped to a trophy-less year in Spain – finishing a distant third in La Liga.
Ultimately though, Kroos has experienced almost unprecedented success at the Bernabeu – having added 12 trophies in five years to his World Cup crown, including three Champions Leagues and a La Liga triumph.
Kroos signed a new four-year contract extension at Real Madrid back in May.
