MILLIONS of kids will be told to spend a “night under the stars” in national parks in a new eco-push by ministers.
Environment Secretary Theresa Villiers has backed a review which calls for radical action so children “experience nature” and learn how “landscapes inspired generations of artists, poets and musicians”.
It would see children asked to ditch Netflix and smartphones and head to areas such as Exmoor and the Lake District.
The move is part of an action plan to revive England’s national parks by writer Julian Glover.
He calls for a 1,000-strong ranger service to be the “friendly face” of the parks.
He also wants new protections for designated areas of outstanding natural beauty

And the review recommends backing an additional national park in the Chilterns and a new National Forest incorporating Sherwood.
The Chilterns would be the first national park in central southern England. Experts warn the combination of over protective parents — and social media — is seeing more kids than ever before stuck indoors glued to screens.
