And while Coronation Street fans have watched her be welcomed happily into the family she didn’t know she had, things are about to take a dark turn.
Emma will soon complain of feeling unwell and being in pain at work with Maria and decided to go to the medical centre to get it checked out.
But when she leaves the pain becomes too much and she collapses in agony.
Gary Windass finds her unconscious in the street and rushes to get her help.

It will spark fears Emma has inherited Jim’s illness – myotonic dystrophy – leaving her seriously ill.
A source exclusively told The Sun Online: “Emma’s not going to understand what’s wrong with her but her dad Steve knows only too well what it could be.
“Jim’s illness skipped a generation with Steve but the possibility of it affecting Emma is almost too much to contemplate.
“It’s going to be a really harrowing time for the McDonalds if it’s what caused Emma’s collapse.”

Jim was diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy in 2014 and has suffered severe health issues because of it. When he returned then he had Steve and his family tested to see if they were at risk of developing the hereditary condition but luckily they were clear.
However Emma was not tested as no-one knew she existed then meaning she could have developed the condition and could face an uncertain future for the illness that has no known cure.
A Coronation Street spokeswoman declined to comment.
