The Circle viewers convinced ‘celebrity catfish’ Richard Madeley has already lost – because he’s pretending to be a 27 year old woman called JUDY
THE Circle viewers are convinced “celebrity catfish” Richard Madeley may have already blown his cover on the game show.
The telly host, 63, has taken on the identity of 27-year-old model Judy – but fans reckon his ambitious biography and mature name for the blonde beauty may give him away.
The aim of the game is for contestants – who live in the same apartment block but in different rooms – to get to know each other using nothing but social media.
The group communicate using a profile they have designed themselves, which allows them to be anyone they want.
The goal is to become as popular as possible and to avoid being “blocked” by the other players – who can either play as themselves or “catfish” their fellow contestants by making up their identity.
Richard’s celebrity status means he isn’t allowed to play as himself, with host Emma Willis instead leaving it up to viewers to decide if the TV presenter should forge being a 23-year-old man named Richard or a 27-year-old woman named Judy.
Unsurprisingly, viewers tasked the dad-of-two with being model Judy (the same name as his wife Judy Finnigan) – but it seemed he was struggling to get into character.
When completing the biography and relationship status sections of his profile, viewers feared Richard was a little overambitious.
The star wrote an essay-length piece for his “about me”, in which he also claimed to have met an astronaut who landed on the moon.
He then stated: “Why would anyone make that up?”

But viewers questioned his logic and reckoned the other players would quickly suss him out.
One wrote: “Richard Madeley is gonna get caught out so quickly… should have picked a better cat fishing profile tbh #TheCircle @C4TheCircle.”
Another chimed: “Richard Madeley is so bad #thecircle.”
Others claimed it was his name that was going to make the other contestants suspicious, with on writing: “I’m pretty sure people that young called Judy just don’t exist.”
Another mocked: “They’ve set Richard up to fail with this profile, no one would believe anyone under 60 would be called Judy. #TheCircle.”
