STRICTLY Come Dancing star James Cracknell’s ex has joked there are times they want to “hire an assassin and take each other out” following their divorce earlier this year.
Beverley Turner, 45, split with the Olympian after 17 years together – nine of which were spent in the aftermath of his horror brain injury.
Beverley was candid in opening up on her experience of living with James following his brain injury, which he suffered after being knocked off a bike in America.
She told how it prompted her to see James “through the prism” of his brain injury, as she saw his character both prior and following the accident.
James was left with epilepsy, a short temper and changed personality following the incident.
Addressing their split, she said: “We have to remain amicable for the sake of the children.
“Even on days I wanted to hire a hitman to take each other out – like anyone going through a divorce wants to.”
Beverley married James in 2002 and the couple have three kids together Coryde, Kiki and Trixie.
James was first to be booted off BBC One series Strictly this autumn, alongside professional partner Luba Mushtuk.
The Sun exclusively reported his furious reaction to the series’ debut dumping, during which he told how he wished he had never taken part at all.
During a chat on ITV series Lorraine, his ex wife and mother to their three kids took a cheeky swipe at his appearance on the same chat show last week.
She quipped to host Lorraine Kelly: “I thought put a shirt on and sit up straight.”
Talking of his performance on the dancefloor, she added: “he’s a bit scruffy and clearly can’t dance.”

In a short statement released in March, the couple said: “We can confirm that sadly we separated last year. Together, we remain committed to our amazing children, they are our absolute priority.”
Cracknell added that he and Beverley did everything to make their relationship work out.
But he commented: “We’re also, as any couple is, different people from who you were 17 years ago and we can look back and say we did everything.”
