STRICTLY Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez gushed with emotion as he opened up on balancing home life with girlfriend Gemma Atkinson and daughter Mia with the BBC show.
The pair, who met on the dancing series, welcomed their first child in July in what they termed a “frightening labour.”
Earlier this summer, it was also confirmed while the Spanish dancer would be returning for group performances on the series, he would not be matched with a celebrity partner.
This meant his time was freed up from the intense training sessions, and speaking of the switch on ITV show Lorraine, he said: “If I was to choose a time for it to happen, it was the best time to happen.
“I have got the best of both sides because I am in the show with the group routines and I get to watch everyone and I love it, and I have Mia and Gemma.”
As host Lorraine Kelly told how the tot was beautiful, he added: “She looks like her mum, that’s why.”
Gorka, 28, went on to explain Mia’s traumatic birth – during which he thought he was about to faint in the labour ward.
He said: “It was the best day of my life but I was very scared.
“Obviously she (Gemma) went through it, but I was nearly passing out.
“There were so many people in the room and it was so hot.”
Talking of his tot’s blossoming dancing skills, Gorka added: “She has already started kicking.
“She is a better dancer than me.”
Earlier this year, new mum Gemma, 34, was forced to spend four days in hospital after giving birth before she was allowed to return home.
Little Mia was born on July 4 and proud Gorka revealed the news on his Instagram page.
He put of the little girl: “She’s incredible and she certainly made an entrance, giving us all quite a fright at times.
“Gemma my absolute HERO! After seeing you go through all you did to bring our little girl to life has made me love and respect you even more.
“What a trooper you are. I couldn’t be more proud of you!!”
He thanked staff at The Royal Bolton Hospital for looking after his beautiful partner.
