BARCLAYS customers have been locked out of their online banking after a website glitch has left them with trouble logging in.
Many customers are being told that the service is “unavailable” when they try to access their cash via the website.
According to downdetector.co.uk, problems started for customers around midday today, with 75 per cent of complaints focusing on issues with online banking.
Twenty-two per cent have reported trouble with mobile banking and only two per cent are struggling with the website.
There were 169 complaints in total from customers in Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol are having trouble with the banking system.
Frustrated customers have taken to Twitter to try and find out what’s going on.
One person shared a screen grab of an error message that he gets when he’s trying to log on using his PC.
Another wrote: “@Barclays are there problems with online banking today? Can’t log in. Then got in but it chucked me out when I tried to do something. I’m using the web.”
MPIGhost replied: “Same here, I can’t even login.”
Despite this, Barclays own service monitor is reporting that everything is working as it should be across all services.
By 1pm, the number of people reporting the issues had dropped down to just 22 complaints, according to downdetector.co.uk, suggesting that the issues may now have been resolved.
Barclays has around 24million customers in the UK and offers telephone, online, in branch and app-based banking services.
The Sun has contacted Barclays and will update this article as soon as we have more information.
