How did The Walking Dead series 9 end?
Andrew Lincoln, who played Rick in the AMC TV series, was killed off in the last series of The Walking Dead.
However, in a diversion from the comics, he perished sacrificing himself by blowing up a bridge loaded with walkers, who were on their way to one of the allied towns.
In the graphic novels, Rick was shot by Sebastian Milton as he laid in bed.
At the end of series nine, Rick was presumed dead by his family following a bridge explosion as he tried to save survivors.
While viewers know Rick was saved by the mysterious CRM organisation, his family are oblivious and its up to them to keep his memory alive during series 10.
Meanwhile Andrew will return as Rick in a movie version of The Walking Dead, with a number of films already mapped out for the character.
Elsewhere, winter arrived for the first time in nine seasons meaning Ezekiel and Carol had to cross the border into Whisperer land in order to survive the blizzard – heading through Alpha’s territory in the process.
