Prince Harry wanted Baby Archie to go on royal tour to introduce him ‘to the place he loves’ as expert claims the Duke feels ‘at home and out of the goldfish bowl’ in Africa
PRINCE Harry wanted to bring baby son Archie on the Africa royal tour so he could “introduce” him to his favourite place.
The Duke of Sussex, 35, made the decision to bring the five-month-old child he shares with Meghan Markle on the 10-day trip for “incredibly sweet” personal reasons, claims a royal expert.
According to author Angela Levin, who penned Harry: A Biography of a Prince, the royal father-of-one wanted Archie to experience a part of the world that he “loves” as well as to show the Duchess of Sussex, 38, more “aspects of Africa”.
Speaking to the Daily Express, she said: “I think he wanted to show [Meghan] more broadly what Africa was like, and he wanted to introduce baby Archie to Africa, which is incredibly sweet.
“I think he does love Africa. He absolutely loves Africa. He told me he loves the land, he loves the people, he loves the wildlife.
“He feels at home here, and I think he is out of the goldfish bowl, the press there is nowhere near as sharp as it is here. He feels very very comfortable.”
The Duke and Duchess embarked on their royal tour, with their little boy, in September.
They visited South Africa together, before Harry travelled on alone to Angola, Malawi and Botswana.
On the last day of the tour, Prince Harry said: “Ever since I came to this continent as a young boy, trying to cope with something I can never possibly describe, Africa has held me in an embrace that I will never forget, and I feel incredibly fortunate for that.
“And every time I come here; I know that I’m not alone.
“I always feel – wherever I am on this continent – that the community around me provides a life that is enriching, and is rooted in the simplest things – connection, connections with others and the natural environment.”
We told you this week that Meghan took Archie lots of toys on the royal tour so he didn’t miss his “home comforts”.
It was revealed earlier this year that they wouldn’t be joining Harry on the second leg of the royal tour because “the plane is too small”.
