PORNHUB has been accused of derailing a British police inquiry into revenge porn.
The multi-billion dollar porn site, owned by Luxembourg company MindGeek, has been accused of failing to help a Derbyshire woman who did not know her ex had filmed her having sex.
The 24-year-old administrator, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted Derbyshire police last August when her ex’s new partner sent her links to two videos, saying “You need to see this.”
The videos, which she claims she did not know existed, had tags including “f****** my ex” and showed her having sex with a man she had dated for a year previously.
The alleged victim said: “When I watched the videos I felt sick. I knew straight away it was me.
“I felt dirty and ashamed, even though I had done nothing wrong. I thought I was in love with him at the time. I had no idea the videos had been filmed.”
She quickly contacted Pornhub, but the videos were allegedly viewed hundreds of times on the site before they were removed.
When I watched the videos I felt sick. I knew straight away it was me.
Victim
Now, the internet porn giant has been accused of sinking the investigation into the incident by failing to respond to requests for information. Pornhub claims it did not receive any requests.
A 28-year-old man was arrested last October, but the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it could not make a charge decision without more evidence, including a statement from Pornhub.
The case has now been closed because of lack of evidence.
‘APPALLED’ BY LACK OF CO-OPERATION
When Derbyshire police initially contacted Pornhub, they received an email with “technical information” about the videos, but not the details requested by the CPS.
In a statement, Derbyshire police said: “A second request for information, which was required by the CPS, was submitted by email to Pornhub in March 2019 and a further follow-up email sent in April. There was no reply.”
The alleged victim said she was “appalled” by Pornhub’s apparent lack of co-operation.
Pornhub was also criticised in July for hosting a video of a British teenager who was allegedly gang-raped by up to 12 Israeli men in a hotel in Cyprus.

Pornhub vice president Blake White said the website’s terms and conditions strictly prohibit revenge porn, and that it is removed if reported.
He also claimed Pornhub responded to an inquiry related to the Derbyshire case and provided “personal information” about the account holder.
He said they “received an autoresponder email in return. Since then we have no record of correspondence from Derbyshire constabulary”.
