Can Hamilton win the drivers’ title in Mexico?
Japan saw the Constructors’ title secured by Mercedes, while also ensuring a Silver Arrows driver will take home the individual crown.
Valtteri Bottas’ win and Hamilton’s third place finish in Suzuka meant they will battle it out for the championship as the German manufacturers claim a sixth successive double.
The British star still leads by 64 points from his Finnish teammate with 104 to race for – and holds the advantage should they draw level at the end of the season as he has won more races (nine to three with four to go)
If Hamilton wins in Mexico, he only needs Bottas to finish fifth or lower – even if the Finn gets the bonus point.
Should the Brit only manage second, he can win if Bottas finishes seventh without the bonus point or lower.
Lastly, Hamilton can still claim the title with a third at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez – but his teammate would have to finish outside the top ten.
