Aldi US is selling a ‘Sweet Bloody Red’ wine for Halloween
GET extra spooky this Halloween with Aldi’s “Sweet Bloody Red” wine, complete with witchy orange packaging covered in jack o’ lanterns and a haunted house.
There’s no blood inside the bottle, just a sweet, full-bodied red from Germany that tastes of cherry and plum.
The Jacob Einig Dornfelder Sweet Bloody Red Wine costs just $5.99 (£4.61) in Aldi and has been spotted in stores across the states.
On the outside the seasonal packaging calls upon drinkers to “eat, drink and be spooky”.
All that’s truly spooky about this wine is the packaging though, as the contents are just red wine without any added ingredients or flavours.
But, it still tastes great – wine lovers on wine rating site Vivino claim it has a “sweet and fruity” taste with flavours of cherry, plum and chocolate – although it’s not a dessert wine despite its “sweet” label.
For many, the spooky bottle has become a Halloween staple, with vino lovers snapping pictures of the bottle as far back as 2016.
The 750ml booze has an alcohol content of 9 per cent, meaning it’s quite a light wine perfect for easy drinking – red wine is typically around 13 per cent ABV.
With its sweet flavours, the Sweet Bloody Red would also go great in a Halloween sangria at your October 31 party.
But make sure you enjoy this blood-coloured drink responsibly this fall.
