ASDA has won Britain’s supermarket battle for the cheapest Christmas shopping basket, according to a new report.
Trade mag The Grocer found that Asda came up trumps for the seventh year in a row.
The supermarket chain’s basket of 33 festive goodies costs £6.44 less than its closest rival Morrisons, the magazine found.
The Grocer’s festive basket includes a turkey crown, pigs in blankets, Brussels sprouts, Christmas pud plus plenty of alcohol and party food.
The survey found that Asda’s total of £91.22 was £6.44 cheaper than runner-up Morrisons on £97.66.
Asda offered the lowest price for 19 items.
The supermarket’s turkey crown costing £12 was £3 cheaper than Tesco, a fiver less than Morrisons and Waitrose and undercut Sainsbury’s by £5.50.
The Grocer said that Morrisons offered the cheapest price for 15 lines.
Morrisons beat all its rivals on their pork chipolatas, profiteroles, red cabbage and breadsticks.

Third place went to Tesco on £97.93, £6.71 pricier than Asda.
But Sainsbury’s was a hefty £13.54 more expensive than Asda at £104.76.
And Waitrose was a long way at £122.24 a whopping £31.01 more expensive than Asda.
