PHILLIP Schofield ‘liked’ an anti-Tory tweet about being “sad & upset” at the election result after coming under fire for his grinning selfie with Boris Johnson.
The presenter faced backlash from This Morning viewers who claimed he had gone easier on the Prime Minister than Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
But after Boris’ historic election win, Phillip showed his support to a tweet about getting the “Tories out.”
It comes after the PM won a thumping majority – the largest since Margret Thatcher’s 102 seat win over Labour’s Neil Kinnock 32 years ago.
Phillip liked the tweet: “This is a sad, upsetting day. But don’t forget 57% of those voting voted anti Tory, only 21% of population voted #Tory.
“We must redouble efforts for #caring #fair #internationalist society. #ToriesOut.”
He had been forced to defend his selfie with Boris after Labour supporters pointed out he hadn’t got a picture with Corbyn.
Addressing that on Twitter, the TV host remarked: “Can I point out that if Mr Corbyn had asked for a selfie, we would have happily obliged.”
Phillip ended another year at This Morning on a sour note on Thursday after The Sun revealed backstage tension between him and Holly Willoughby.
Eight star ITV presenters have described a “toxic” environment at the ITV daytime show – with Friday show presenter Ruth Langsford filing a complaint to ITV bosses after Phillip savagely interrupted her on live TV.
He awkwardly kissed Holly and wrapped his arm around her as they wished viewers a Merry Christmas on their final show of 2019 on December 12.

The pair have been embroiled in a backstage feud but tried to put a brave face on for viewers.
He told viewers: “Well, that is it from us for today and this year. We’re not here tomorrow because of the General Election coverage.”
Holly said: “Eammon and Ruth are back with you on Monday, but we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and we will see you in the New Year.”
