PART of the fun of a family photoshoot is getting as many of siblings, aunties, uncles and cousins involved as possible.
That said, one American mum is being criticised online after she asked for help “editing out” her young stepson from professional photos because they were meant to be for “full family only”.

In the sweet outdoors shoot, the woman, her two children, her husband and her stepson are dressed in matching red-and-black checked shirts.
Sharing the photos on Facebook, the woman wrote: “Is there any way y’all could remove the kid to the right in these pictures? He’s my stepson and I love these pictures of us together but I also didn’t get any good ones [of just my] two without him.”
The mum is pictured holding her two young children in her lap while her stepson perches on the edge of the picnic blanket.
And if this image wasn’t heartbreaking enough, the mum then wrote: “Also remove him from the full family pictures please. Thanks in advance.”

Needless to say, her post sparked backlash among her Facebook friends and it wasn’t long before it was also posted on Reddit.
In response to the criticism, the woman added: “EDIT I love my stepson but I do want some without him in them. I already posted these ones but I just want to have it both ways.”
Unsurprisingly, the post struck a chord with Reddit users who sympathised with the stepson.
“This genuinely made me sad,” one wrote. “Imagine how that child felt. I bet he noticed he wasn’t included like the other two.”

Another added: “This is more than likely how his life is everyday. I’m sure this mother includes him in things this exact way.
“Even at that young age, I’m sure it’s known to him that he is secondary to the ‘real’ children. So sad.”
A third added: “Yeah I mean, look how far he’s already sitting from her and the others. I’m a step mom and this breaks my heart.”
