New Top Gun Maverick trailer sees Tom Cruise back in the Danger Zone with first look at F-18
A new trailer for Top Gun Maverick sees Tom Cruise cheat death in a series of terrifying plane stunts – as well as giving the first look at the F-18 fighter jet.
The dramatic clip opens with the Cruise – who has reprised his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell after 34 years – flying over some snow covered mountains.
It is then revealed he taking on the role of instructor – training detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialised mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen.
He will mentor Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: Rooster, the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka Goose.
Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.
In the 1986 film, Maverick flew a Grumman F-14 Tomcat but he has a new fighter in this film, which makes it debut in the trailer.
The fighter – a Boeing (originally McDonnell Douglas) F/A-18F Super Hornet, boasts increased agility.
It features a blue stripe and his name, as well as his call signs in the cockpit.
Val Kilmer has reprised his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in the sequel, which also stars Jon Hamm, Lewis Pullman and Charles Parnell.
Yesterday Tom Cruise has gave fans a sneak peek as he shared the movie poster.
