PRINCE Andrew can’t be a ‘superhuman saint’ and ‘everyone makes mistakes’, the Archbishop of Canterbury has said when asked about the Epstein scandal.
The church supremo struck a tone of forgiveness when asked about allegations the Royal slept with his paedo pal Jeffrey Epstein’s 17-year-old ‘sex slave’.
The Duke of York has denied claims by Virginia Roberts, now 35, and the Most Rev Justin Welby said it was ‘unrealistic’ to expect members of the Royal Family to be ‘superhuman saints’.
Asked about whether Royal Family members have a greater responsibility than other members of society, he told The Big Issue: “I think to ask that they be superhuman saints is not what we should do because nobody is like that.
“Everybody makes mistakes, everybody is human.”
Mr Welby called the Royal Family a ‘gift’ to Britain and made clear he wasn’t talking about any particular member – although he was being asked about the Epstein scandal by the charity mag.
Andrew has been forced to withdraw from public life over his links to convicted paedophile Epstein – who was found dead in his jail cell in August.
A second woman has contacted lawyers for Epstein’s victims claiming she also had sex with Andrew – although was not said to have alleged she was coerced.
The news comes as Ms Roberts – now Virginia Giuffre – claimed that the Duke put his daughters “through hell” by “hanging around known pedos”.
Epstein’s alleged former teen sex slave sent an unexpected message to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie on Twitter as the saga around their dad continues to swirl.
Ms Giuffre, says she was just 17 when Epstein’s alleged pimp and media heiress Ghislaine Maxwell ordered her to have sex with the Duke of York for the first time after an evening at London’s Tramp nightclub.
The Duke of York, 59, has vehemently denied the accusations against him, branding them “false” and “without foundation”.

Yesterday in response to an article about Beatrice and Eugenie she tweeted: “I bet they’re going through hell, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, I have no qualms with them.”
She added: “Their father should have thought about that before he decided to hang around known pedos and even participate in their abuse,” along with the hashtags #EpsteinCoverup and #GhislaineMaxwell.
Lie detector expert Don Cargill has offered to test Andrew and Ms Guiffre for free after a poll showed most people thought it would help discover the truth.
