A PUPPY who had her ears and tail hacked off in a vicious gang attack in Tajikistan is set for a new life thanks to a British mum.
Cross-breed Susie was attacked in capital city Dushanbe when she was just four weeks old.
Yobs cornered her in an alleyway and used a knife to cut off both ears and tail before setting her alight.
A local woman heard her howling in pain and rushed her to a nearby medical centre where doctors saved her life before passing her on to a vet.
A Unicef worker took her in temporarily and after tweeting about her recovery dog lover Jayne Cameron, of Redcar, North Yorkshire, got to hear about it.
She had just lost one of her dogs so she decided to take in Susie – and has set up crowdfunding page to raise the £3000 needed to fly the pooch, now six months, to the UK.
Speech therapy assistant Jayne said: “We are in a Facebook group called Great Danes UK and we know a lot of people who have Great Danes.
“Someone on there sent me a link to Susie’s story, thinking she was a Great Dane.
‘COULD NOT BELIEVE IT’
“I just could not believe it. I know countries are different but I can’t understand how anybody could be so cruel to cut off a puppy’s ears and tail.
“I couldn’t think of anything else and I haven’t done since.
“Dogs are a very big part of our lives and, now our children have grown up, we have the time to look after them.
“The Unicef worker met all the medical costs and took really good care of her but he can’t keep her.
“So I told him she can come and live with me in Redcar.”

Mum-of-two Jayne lives with husband Michael, 57, a caretaker, and their two surviving Great Danes – Duncan, six, and Florence, two.
She needs to raise £3,000 because Susie will have to fly as cargo and as it’s such a long flight she will need regular breaks.
Jayne added: “She hasn’t had the best start but luckily she’s met some lovely people along the way.”
