ALVARO MORATA was so stressed by the Super Copa final shootout he vomited.
The 26-year-old Atletico Madrid striker reportedly felt dizzy at the end of extra-time in the clash against rivals Real.
And Marca claim that led to him spewing before being relieved of his spot-kick duties.
Real were victorious on penalties against Atletico, but they only managed to get through to the shoot-out after Federico Valverde denied Morata a late winner with an X-rated tackle.
The Uruguayan scythed down the ex-Chelsea forward deep into extra-time as he raced clean through on goal with only keeper Thibaut Courtois to beat.
But Valverde was shown a straight red after slicing his opponent down to deny him an obvious opportunity.
And in another cruel twist for Atletico, Real then cruised to a 4-1 win on penalties as Saul Niguez and Thomas Partey both missed for Diego Simeone’s side.
Many were left wondering why Morata, who has ten goals this season, was not among the takers.
The former Juventus man is Atletico’s first choice penalty taker.
Now it has emerged Simeone opted to let his marksman off with the responsibility due to him feeling unwell with the tension of it all.
Valverde was named man of the match afterwards and revealed he had apologised to Morata.

He said: “It was something that I should not have done.
“I apologised to Morata, but it was the only thing I could do because he’s a very fast player.
“I’m happy to win the title but I’m still stuck with what I did because it’s not right.
“My team-mates got behind me, but it was a sad moment for me.
“Simeone also came up to me and said something that I won’t repeat and I want to thank him for it.”
