HOST Wendy Williams has finally addressed ‘fartgate’ and insisted that she’s ‘never farted once’ on TV, blaming the loud noise on a hose.
Fans were left in hysterics last week after the 55-year-old appeared to let out a loud toot live on-air in the middle of her show.
The media personality was in the midst of the Hot Topics segment on The Wendy Williams Show when a long fart sound was picked up by studio microphones.
She uncomfortably shuffled in her seat after the boisterous noise was heard but did not address the incident and continued on with her script.
Finally addressing the incident on today’s episode, the daytime TV host began while sipping on her tea: “I’ve been going through this for a moment, I’d like to have a private conversation with you, ok.
“Fart-gate! I don’t lean over to fart, I lean over because it’s comfortable. I’ve been doing this for 11 years on this show – I have never farted once on this show.
“I barely fart!” she insisted. “Gas gets released several different ways, mine is belching because all I do is talk. Farts are always funny.”
The TV host replayed the clip in question and playfully suggested that she would have left a “mark” on her seat.
She continued: “By the sound of that ‘fart’, I would have had to go change my costume. I would have left a mark in the seat.”
Coming to Wendy’s defense, a producer from The Wendy Williams Show explained that a hose was in fact behind the rather crude sound.
Putting the speculation to bed, producer John admitted: “We were filling up a fish tank backstage. The hose wasn’t working.
“It was sputtering like somebody was farting. That’s what it was. It wasn’t Wendy!”
Her response comes days after the television host left fans in hysterics after she appeared to pass gas live on-air.
The media personality was in the midst of discussing Odell Beckham Jr.’s arrest warrant from an incident at LSU when the loud sound was picked up by studio microphones.
Viewers of her show were quick to address the mysterious blast online and many were overwhelmingly amused by what sounded like a gassy blunder.
One Twitter user wrote: “Can’t sleep cause I can’t stop thinking about Wendy Williams letting out a nasty fart during Friday’s episode of her daytime talk show.”
