Celebrity Big Brother ‘set to return on Channel 4 and feature controversial stars’
CELEBRITY Big Brother could return next year as Channel 4 plots a new series with ‘controversial’ stars.
According to the Daily Star, the channel is in talks with production company Endemol to bring back the iconic reality show following a ratings crisis.
A source told the publication: “Discussions with Endemol have been happening since before Christmas. And now Channel 4 execs are starting to plan budgets.
“Producers want to feature controversial stars who have bad reputations.
“They plan to give the series the tagline of Reborn because it will be a chance for the celebs to be just that… reborn with a new public image.”
The Sun Online has contacted a representative for Channel 4 for comment.
CBB enjoyed a nine-year run on the station between 2001 and 2010 and was hosted by Davina McCall.
Channel 5 then took over the show in 2011 with Brian Dowling and then Emma Willis at the helm before it was announced it was being axed in 2018.
Its last series was among its most controversial when Roxanne Pallett was embroiled in Punch-gate after falsely claiming Ryan Thomas hit her.
Bit On The Side host and CBB 2013 winner Rylan Clark-Neal has long held out hope for the show’s return.
