SHOCKING dashcam footage showed garage staff rocketing a customer’s car over speed humps on their way to Gregg’s for a lunch break.
“Check your dash cams!” is one driver’s warning after footage showed garage staff “hammering” his car over speed humps and parking in a disabled bay outside Gregg’s in Newcastle.
Carl Ivers had left his car at Causeway Garage in Sheriff Hill, Gateshead to get his timing belt changed.
But when staff took his vehicle on a test drive, dash cam footage showed an apprentice and mechanic stopping at the pasty shop for their lunch.
One of the drivers can be heard saying “feel the power, feel the f*****g roar” in the video.
At one point the staff seem to notice the dashcam with one of drivers saying: “He’s got a dashcam, he’s probably hearing everything we’re saying… he’s seeing us getting our dinner.”
Posting on Facebook, Carl said the garage’s service was “absolutely disgusting”.
“[They] put my car into first gear and floored it through Asda car park,” said the delivery driver.
“Oh and on the way there, they decided to do about 35mph in a 20 zone, hammering my car over the huge speed bumps on Nursery lane.
“You can manage to hear the crunch of the suspension going over the bumps over the constant beeping because neither of them were wearing seat belts either.”
A spokesman from the garage told Chronicle Live: “The lads went on a test drive with the car and they decided to kill two birds with one stone and go and get their dinners.
“When I saw the dashcam footage I pulled the lads into the office and went ape with them.”

The apprentice was fired because of his “attitude” and the mechanic has been given a final written warning and is forbidden from carrying out any more test drives.
The spokesman added: “I have offered to do other work for the customer and not charge him for labour – I think he is looking for something for nothing.
“We have built this business up for many years and we are gutted that this has happened through no fault of management but down to individual staff.”
