Steven Bergwijn reveals goal celebration is from ‘playing Fifa with friends’ as new boy scores on Tottenham debut
TOTTENHAM new boy Steven Bergwijn scored on his debut and performed his signature celebration – which was inspired by playing Fifa with friends.
The Dutchman arrived at Spurs from Ajax in the winter window for £27million.
And his debut couldn’t have gone any better after he took down a pass from Lucas Moura on his chest before volleying home past Ederson.
As Bergwijn reeled off in celebration he did so with his hand covering his face – a trademark celebration of his.
After signing with Spurs the 22-year-old revealed how the celebration came around.
Bergwijn said: “It’s nothing special, it’s just when I play Fifa with friends, and they say ‘Do it like this’ and since then I do it.”
The forward’s team-mate Son Heung-min also got in on the action attempting to give the celebration a go.
But the South Korean star was soon scoring himself as he doubled Spurs’ lead with 20 minutes left.
