Two cops injured in ‘hit-and-run’ while trying to stop suspected drug deal as man is arrested
TWO police officers were hurt in a ‘hit and run’ after they tried to step in during a suspected drug deal in South East London overnight.
The cops were patrolling through Bermondsey when they noticed a moped driver and motorists appearing to deal drugs.
But when they tried to intervene, the car sped from the scene – colliding with police officers on Bombay Street just before 9pm.
The female officer suffered a leg injury while the male officer’s arm was injured.
Both were taken to hospital.
A Met Police spokesperson said the moped allegedly involved was later traced to a nearby address in Camilla Road.
A firearm, believed to be an air-powered pistol – was discovered during a search of the address.
A male has since been arrested on grievous bodily harm.
He remains in custody.
