England coach hit on the head by beer bottle as Scotland fans give Red Roses hostile reception for Six Nations clash
SCOTLAND fans provided a typically hostile reception for England ahead of their Six Nations clash – leading to coach Neil Craig being hit on the head by a plastic beer bottle.
Part of Eddie Jones’ backroom setup, former Aussie rules footballer Craig suffered the blow as he got off the team bus.
Entering Murrayfield while surrounded by home supporters, the Red Rose were treated to a number of chants and gestures in the few steps across the pavement.
However one fan reportedly took it too far with Daily Mail reporter Nik Simon telling of a plastic bottle being hurled from the gantry above.
That hit Craig, 64, and the team continued their journey into the ground without any report of injury.
England kicked off in Edinburgh knowing a win was vital to their Six Nations title hopes.
Both teams suffered a loss on the opening weekend, France downing Jones’ side while Ireland beat Scotland in Dublin.
