POLICE are desperately hunting down a man spotted carrying young, unresponsive children around Bangkok while begging for money.
Concerned ex-pats claim the man has been seen with different children since as early as September last year.
The middle aged, European-looking man allegedly tells passers-by he has lost his wallet or had it stolen and is in need of money for a hotel room.
Described as a “foreigner”, the man has been seen throughout Bangkok, mostly along Sukhumvit Road and at tourist hot spots such as BTS Skytrain stations.
What worries witnesses most is that the children carried by the man appear sleepy or unresponsive, with fears they may have been drugged.
Police are currently investigating and trying to track down the man.
Officers told local media they were too concerned the children may have been drugged.
A child protection hotline in Thailand that has fielded reports said it has forwarded them to the police, to no avail.
Officers from Thonglor police station claim they responded to a report of the foreign man within minutes, after receiving a tip off that he returned.
But despite racing to busy Soi Sukhumvit 36 within three minutes of the call, they were unable to locate him.
