A TATTOO obsessive who’s forked out more than £30,000 on body modifications claims she only found happiness after getting her eyeballs coloured blue – despite going blind.
Ink-mad Amber Luke, 24, revealed she attempted suicide 15 times before finally learning to love herself – with her acceptance directly linked to her artwork.
Amber Luke says she only really found happiness after tattooing her eyeballs blue [/caption]Amber, from New South Wales, Australia, got her first tattoo aged 16, and says it felt “like home”.
She said: “At first it was because I wanted to know what the feeling was like – I craved it even though I had no idea what it felt like.
“Once the needle penetrated my skin, it felt like home.”
Amber says it was her most painful and dangerous tattoo – getting her eyeballs inked – which gave her the most happiness, despite blinding her.
Amber before her tattoos and body modifications [/caption]She said: “My eyeballs caused me the most immense pain I’ve endured so far, but they’re worth it!
“Every morning when I wake up and look at my eyeballs, it makes me happy because blue is my absolute favourite colour!”
Despite loving the colour, Amber – who calls herself the ‘blue eyed white dragon’ – went blind temporarily after her tattooist botched the artwork.
She previously said: “I can’t even begin to describe to you what the feeling was like, the best thing I can give you is once the eyeball was penetrated with the ink, it felt like [the tattoo artist] grabbed 10 shards of glass and rubbed it in my eye.
Amber reckons she’s spent more than £30,000 on her inkings [/caption]“That happened four times per eye, that was pretty brutal. Unfortunately, my artist went too deep into my eyeball.
“If your eyeball procedure is done correctly, you’re not supposed to go blind at all.
“I was blind for three weeks. That was pretty brutal.”
Explaining how her love for tattoos developed, as she got older Amber began to cover more of her body in ink, and now boasts a number of face tattoos, eyeball colouring, she’s had her tongue split and had a silicone implant in her eye to look like a ‘pixie’.
Amber has also had a boob job, cheek and lip fillers, silicone implants and in her eyes and ears [/caption]And the fan of extreme body art has also had a boob job, cheek and lip fillers and pointed implants placed in her ears.
Amber explained how her tattoo obsession grew, saying: “My passion developed when I was 20 years old, I started to get more heavily tattooed.
“The feeling I got from getting tattooed was like no other I had experienced – I literally felt the negative energy disperse from my body, minute by minute.”
The single child said the tattoos helped her overcome her mental health issues, which have included suicide attempts.
Amber claims she wasn’t happy with how she looked before she had any work done [/caption]She said: “My mother worked her hardest all the time and gave me everything I needed. I was extremely lonely though.
“I’m an only child, and because my mother worked so many hours – dad wasn’t really in the picture – I hardly got to see her.
“And, over time, I developed an immense desire to never be alone.
“Depression and anxiety developed at age 15, Borderline Personality Disorder with Schizophrenic traits came a little bit later on.
“I’ve had, on record, 15 suicide attempts.”
The 24-year-old currently works as a tattoo apprentice and is studying to be a traffic controller [/caption]Amber, who works as an apprentice tattooist while studying to be a traffic controller, says her surge in tattooing at 20 went hand in hand with a shift in her outlook.
She said: “I decided I wanted to stop hating myself at age 20.
“The hatred I harboured in my heart for my image was relentlessly brutal.
“My depression played a huge part in it, but my perspective of myself was shunned so much that I would avoid leaving the house for weeks at a time.”
Amber is currently saving up money for a risky Brazilian Butt Lift procedure [/caption]Amber says she stopped keeping track of her tattoos at 150 – but reckons she’s added at least another 100 to her collection.
Over the years she estimates she’s forked out £31,262 ($40,000) on her inkings, and has no plans to stop, and she’s currently saving up for a Brazilian Butt Lift.
Amber shares her transformation on her Instagram with her 58,000 followers, and says she gets a lot of positive reaction.
She said: “The support I receive online is phenomenal. And people are quite open minded these days.
Amber began to get heavily tattooed at 20, after getting her first one at 16[/caption]“People are very quick to look at someone and profile them.
“We should all try and take a step back and wonder how creative and passionate that person must be to express themselves like that.
“Instead of shunning someone, look at their beauty – I mean come on, it’s 2020.”
