The dad-of-two, who had no underlying health problems, died at home in Penygroes, Wales on Thursday after spending the night with his new baby son Morgan.
Thomas’s heartbroken mum, Mandy Davies, said the family couldn’t hug each other while they grieve as they were social distancing in line with the government’s Covid-19 rules.
Ms Davies, 53, told The Daily Post: “We can’t embrace each other and I can’t even comfort my family because I can’t see them.
“I can’t put my arms around any of them because we have to stay two metres apart. I went to see my daughter and I had to stay at the bottom of the path.”
‘I COULDN’T TOUCH HIM’
Today, the UK coronavirus death toll rose to 759 after 181 more deaths were recorded since last night.
Another 168 deaths were recorded in England along with eight deaths in Scotland, six deaths in Wales and three deaths in Northern Ireland.
Public Health Wales recorded an additional six deaths in Wales, bringing the country’s total to 34.
In Gwent, South Wales, the number of fatalities is said to be “mirroring Italy,” as the region records 358 cases so far – the highest concentration of confirmed infections per 100,000 people outside London and almost half of Wales’ total case.
Ms Davies said “devoted dad” Thomas had seemed to have got over the worst of his illness and was feeling better when she last spoke to him on Wednesday.
He was self-isolating at home, but his partner Rhiannon Elias, 27, found him dead the next day.
Paramedics in protective gear took Thomas’s body away, but his mum wasn’t allowed to touch him.
Ms Davies said: “When I arrived at the hospital, they were all in their suits.

“I couldn’t even touch him, I wasn’t allowed.
“I wasn’t even allowed to see him for long because they suspected the virus, and they needed to put him back into bags.
“He had a plastic bag over his face.”
She said that Thomas was “fit and healthy” and had never smoked.
