The Dublin native praised the government’s lockdown which came into force at midnight but urged them to do more to limit the spread of the deadly disease.
Speaking directly to the camera, the 31-year-old said: “The ceasing of public transport and closure of all non-essential business has now taken place.
“And that is just what we need. I applaud.
“However, I would like an understanding of our airports.
“Our airports must shut.
MESSAGE TO IRISH CITIZENS OVERSEAS
“The only flights to take place must be for our essential medical equipment.
“Or to bring our medical staff abroad back home to support.
“The airports must be shut for everything else.
“To those attempting to get home, please make wherever you are, your home.
“You will do your country an incredible deed by staying put.
24 HOUR PATROL
“We will get past this. It is not forever but it is for now.
“Tonight our defence forces have been mentioned as a possibility in assisting our 15,000 police officers available, but only if necessary.
“However, it is necessary. I urge our government to utilise our defence forces alongside the Garda and for full 24 hour patrol.
“We cannot go by chance here.
“Any less than full adherence to these newly put forth methods by any members of our society will not only be a mockery to what we are attempting to do here, it will put the rest of our great nation in danger.”
