A BABY arrived in a hurry — in the passenger seat of a car doing 60mph.
Callie Jean Kettle was born as her parents dashed to hospital along a dual carriageway.
Her mum Louise Brooks, 30, felt her waters break in partner Radford Kettle’s Ford Focus and knew she was not getting to hospital in time.
She said: “I don’t know whether the driving movement might have helped bring her on. I just realised she was ready to arrive. I told Radford, ‘I need to push’. Callie’s head came out and she was just born.”
Louise began her labour at their home in Tamworth, Staffs.

They had just joined the A38 heading to Burton, Derbys, when Louise let out a scream.
Mechanic Radford, 38, said: “While I was still driving Callie was born. When I looked again she was in her arms.” An ambulance crew called to the scene cut the umbilical cord in the car, and mother and child went home after a night in hospital.
Ambulance call assessor Emma Heaps said: “The dad stayed calm and did a really brilliant job.”
