Now with the nation at home under lockdown, there’s never been a better time to start a work-from-home job — and home-based customer service firm Sensée has 1,000 of them.
The contact centre operator runs phone support lines for clients including Bupa and Hastings Direct as well as for a number of Government departments.
It is offering 500 permanent roles and 500 temp jobs with flexible hours, and as you work from your own home, you can be based anywhere in the UK.
Roles being fast-tracked
Temp roles are being fast-tracked in just three days to meet demand and you’ll need a desktop or laptop PC.
Applicants wanting permanent jobs need a suitable desktop PC and recruitment is averaging seven days.
Mark Walton, CEO of Sensée, said: “We urgently need new home workers to help our clients support their customers through the current crisis.
“Over the coming months, homeworking will have a crucial role to play in ensuring business continuity for private sector firms, as well as the effective management of citizen and business enquiries within the public sector.”

Working from home while looking after three kids

The 32-year-old, from Plymouth, Devon, said: “Being a mother, the flexibility to have a good work-life balance was really important.
“I was a little sceptical at first as the role sounded too good to be true but being able to work around my other commitments has been amazing.
“When things get back to normal, I can attend things like school plays and parents’ evenings with all the benefits and security of being fully employed.
“The time I would have spent commuting I can now spend as extra time with my children and there are no commuting costs.
“Because everyone in the company works from home, including the managers and directors, we’re all acutely aware of the importance of regular communication and of promoting good health and wellbeing.
“One of the things I love most is the amount of support you receive. Being able to develop and progress is also really important to me and that is something that Sensée has encouraged.
“They have helped me to develop skills that I need to be successful.
“I would encourage anyone to work for Sensée, whether it be to progress in their career, find a better work-life balance or to have a bit of security and income in these worrying times when so many are losing their jobs.”

THE number of firms using video interviews has doubled in the last week as we get to grips with Zoom and Skype.
So if you’re seeking work, we’ve teamed up with Rachel Campbell, senior regional director at recruiter Page Personnel, to reveal how to ace it.
Rachel said: “Thanks to video interviews, companies still have the ability to meet face to face with potential candidates.
“Firms can review footage and assess the top performers when deciding on a candidate.”
Power Up:
It may seem obvious, but make sure your video-enabled device is fully charged before you start and choose a spot with a good internet connection.
Build your background:
Arrange your space so there is good, natural light or have strong lights overhead and slightly behind. A plain, light-coloured background is best.
Dress to impress:
Treat the video interview in the same way as you would a normal interview. Don’t dress down just because you’re at home.
Axe distractions:
Choose a quiet room somewhere and make sure that any people who are around are aware that you should not be disturbed.
MOST READ IN MONEY
Practice makes perfect:
A practice run before the interview is essential. You want to ensure you look good and can be seen clearly.
Set your sights:
Make sure your camera is set in line with your eyes. If it is too high, the interviewers will see the top of your head and if it is too low your face will be distorted.
Pause before speaking:
Often on camera there is a delay. Wait a few seconds before responding so you do not speak across an interviewer.
