The firm’s Managing Director Neil Old said: “As soon as the first coronavirus cases were reported in the UK, we wanted to find a way to support those who need it.
“The Sun’s Who Cares Wins Appeal is ideal because it is going directly to the front line of the NHS.
“We are pleased to help support a great cause.”
We have teamed up with NHS Charities Together in its urgent Covid-19 Appeal to make sure your money gets to health workers who need it.
The money raised will go towards providing food and care packs for NHS staff fighting the coronavirus crisis as well as somewhere for them to sit and rest.
Neil said the chain’s staff and customers would have all relied on the services of the NHS at some point and that is why they are so keen to donate to the Who Cares Wins Appeal.
He said: “When my daughter was born ten years ago, there were complications during the pregnancy and she was born four weeks premature following a difficult labour.
“It was one of the most difficult times in my life, the NHS were just incredible.
“I also have friends working on the front line of the NHS. One of them is a GP who has been working incredibly long hours.
“Our donation feels like a small contribution to show our appreciation to those people working hard every single day up and down the country.
“These are ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things.”
The high street jewellers was founded by Harriet Samuel, who opened her first shop in 1862.
Neil said: “She was a pioneer and her mission was to make jewellery affordable and accessible to everyone.
“This mission remains true to this day.”
