Leddin said: “What a day! @TheNotoriousMMA made over €1 million available for sourcing and purchasing PPE equipment and with the driving force of @GalwayLeahy and assistance of @Heroes_Aid we delivered 50,000 ffp2 masks across Ireland today to our every day superheros. Kindness from everyone.”
He added: “Next week @TheNotoriousMMA has a hell of a lot more PPE equipment being distributed across Ireland.
“Serious supply chain, resources and dedication from all his team and those working with @GalwayLeahy and Heroes_Aid.”
Last week The Mater, a Dublin hospital, received a delivery of sterile gloves to help combat the spread of Covid-19.
DOING ALL HE CAN
McGregor pledged the donation after Minister for Finance Pachal Donohue reached out to the fighter on Twitter.
He said: “Today I am purchasing myself €1 million worth of personal protective equipment to be deployed to all the fighting hospitals in the Leinster region.
“Our most affected region to this date.
“St James’, Mater, Tallaght, Beaumont, Vincent’s. Where would we be without these brave men and women I do not know.
“I have used my platforms multiple times since this has began. First encouraging hand wash etiquette/ not touching face, plus keeping distance.

“Then before the weekend I urged people to stay vigilant and stay indoors.
Since his exchange with Donohue, McGregor has continued to be vocal about the cause and urged the Irish public to wear a mask and gloves when out and about.
He has also repeatedly called for a stricter lockdown to be implemented as he feels all airports and ports should be closed to everyone barring those with an essential travel purpose.
