AN NHS nurse has died hours after the birth of her first child – and her heartbroken fiance says he’s “just devastated” that she’ll never see her daughter grow up.
Shannon Napier, from Fife in Scotland, tragically died on Friday, April 25 – hours after baby Abbie was born.
Long-term partner Jordan Burt says the couple would have celebrated their 11th anniversary the day after they welcomed their daughter.
In a post on Facebook, Jordan said “beautiful, intelligent and funny” Shannon was his “one and only true love”.
“Today is our 11 year anniversary – you gave me the best possible present ever in our baby daughter,” he said.
“I’m just devastated that you can’t be the mummy you’ve always wanted to be. I still can’t believe you are gone, my wonderful fiancee.”
He said the NHS “has lost a terrific young nurse who was so caring and compassionate”, adding: “All the pain is away now darling.
“You rest easy sweetheart, because you are getting the biggest cuddle and kiss possible when we meet again.
“I love you with everything I have.”
Shannon’s family and friends have now raised thousands of pounds for Abbie.
A GoFundMe page set up by pal Rianne Miller initially set a £500 target – but after just 17 hours, more than £6,000 has been donated.
