ED Sheeran has launched a weekly wine club so fans can sample his favourite supermarket tipple during lockdown.
The 29-year-old star’s London restaurant Bertie Blossoms has booze costing up to £168 a bottle but with the trendy place closed, its Instagram page is recommending cheaper high street wine.
Manager Sebastian Skilling’s said this week: “Rejoice! It’s Wednesday which only means its supermarket Wednesday wine club.
“How are we all doing on this lockdown? It’s another glorious day outside today so I’ve decided to showcase another rose.
“This week’s wine comes from le Bijou and it’s their flagship rose ‘Sophie Valrose’ Waitrose £6.99.”
Another booze pick was a £7.50 Touraine Sauvignon Blanc from Tesco.
Ed’s restaurant boss said: “For those who aren’t familiar with Touraine, Touraine is regarded the ‘Garden of France’ and the area is rich with vineyards, saffron and truffles to name a few.
“The wine is fermented at an ultra low temperature and is aged for around 4 months and is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Another easily-available bottle for fans was a red from France – also from Tesco at £9.
Buffs were told: “A delicate and red fruit aroma wine made from the Gamay grape in the Burgundy region.
“Everything you would expect from a Gamay. Perfect for meats and cheese and I would also suggest spicy food. I had this with a curry for lunch today and it was a perfect pairing!”
Ed has been doing his bit to help those in need during these uncertain times.
Earlier this month it was revealed the star had donated more than a million pounds to a variety of local charities in his native Suffolk, where he still lives.
The huge sums have gone to a string of good causes, including the children’s hospital wards in Ipswich.
A source told The Sun: “It is a horrible time and Ed wants to do what he can to help. He has split a seven-figure sum between local charities to try to ease the strain on his local community.
“Ed is very involved in the area and knows that his donations will make a massive difference. They are extremely grateful.”
As well as handing out the bumper cheques, Ed has been busy working on new music while in lockdown following the end of his Divide tour last summer – and is writing at least one song every day.
Speaking last week about a conversation he’d had with Ed, his 1D pal Niall Horan told Apple Music: “He was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve kind of like set myself a challenge.

“I’m going to try and write song a day before lunch. If I can come out with one big song out of this quarantine period, then I’ve won’.
“I really agree with him. He’s unbelievable in that he can do that.”
