Surgeon charged with murdering his wife after her remains are found near their home two days after she went missing
A DOCTOR has been charged with murdering his missing wife — who was found dead over the weekend close to their home in Massachusetts.
Ingolf Tuerk, 58, was arrested for allegedly killing his wife, Kathleen McLean, 45, who was last seen on Thursday at their home in Dover, located roughly 20 miles outside of Boston.
Authorities were investigating McLean’s disappearance, described as “suspicious,” and “developed information” regarding her whereabouts, the Boston Herald reported.
The woman’s body was then found around 11pm on Saturday.
McLean’s husband, a urologist, was charged in her death.
In 2019, Tuerk reached a settlement agreement with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office after he faced allegations of falsely billing the state’s Medicaid Program, MassLive.com reported, citing records.
The 58-year-old agreed to pay $150,000 to resolve the accusations which claimed he wrongly billed MassHealth “for portions of surgical procedures that never took place and office visits that he did not attend or supervise.”
The attorney general’s office said last year: “Under the terms of a settlement agreement, Ingolf Tuerk, a medical doctor who practiced urology at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, will pay $150,000 to resolve allegations that he caused improper billings to MassHealth of over $31,000.”
“Dr. Tuerk must also implement a multi-year compliance program at his own expense if he continues to practice medicine in Massachusetts after 2019.”.
State records, per MassLive, show Tuerk is still licensed to practice medicine.
After her body was found, a friend of McLean’s shared a post the 45-year-old wrote online in April.
It read: “I hope we are all having these moments through this pandemic. I have found such a deep gratitude for my children it’s amazing.”
“They may or may not remember this time of their lives once it’s over but I know I always will – this has been one of the most beautiful cleansing, healing times of my life… seeing my children laugh, dance, learn and play together every day( sometimes argue but rare!) Takes me back to the early days staying at home with them and just enjoying who they are.”

“I have had some of the deepest conversations with my teenagers and laughed until I’m in tears!” McLean wrote.
Tuerk, according to a Twitter profile that appears to be his, is a dad who was born in Germany and who describes himself as a “robotic surgeon, pats fan, biker.”
Tuerk is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday “according to court protocols,” as local courthouses are closed through June 1 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
