EastEnders fans know that Jean’s mood swings have left her family and friends concerned over the past few weeks.
Kush and Shirley decided an intervention was needed when Jean rang the police to report Whitney Dean’s disappearance – despite her having returned to the Square.
When Kush confronted Jean, she was humiliated and charged into the restaurant to rage at Whitney for lying about her whereabouts and making her look stupid.
Kush and Shirley then came to the conclusion that Jean must have stopped taking her bipolar medication – which would explain her mood swings.
But when the pair secretly added her medication to her tea, they ended up giving poor Jean an overdose that landed her in hospital.

Next week’s episodes of EastEnders will see Jean’s behaviour continue to spiral as she refuses to let Kush into the house.
When Kush enlists the help of the Panesars to break into the house and talk to Jean, she’s furious and demands they leave.

But just as they’re about to follow Jean’s wishes and depart, Mo makes a worrying discovery and insists that Kush intervenes.
Later, Jean sets about trying to bring Stacey home and announces she’s going to sweet talk Phil and convince him to forget that Stacey hit him over the head with a wrench and let her back to Walford.
The upcoming scenes will see Shirley try to talk Jean out of it – but to no avail.
It all kicks off as Jean then dresses up to try and impress and seduce Phil.
Shirley urges Kush to call Stacey and resolve the situation.
Will Jean go through with trying to impress Phil – or will she be stopped in time?

Speaking about her character’s struggles, actress Gillian Wright said: “Jean thought she was coping with Daniel’s death very, very well and he would be proud of her.
“He would want her to be more feisty, be more Jean and so she’s thinking right, I’m doing really well, I’m not weeping and wailing all over the place so I don’t need to take the tablets.
“She thinks she’s dealing with it brilliantly. Clearly she isn’t. If she didn’t think she wasn’t dealing with it brilliantly she wouldn’t be acting the way that she is.”
