The bonking boom was revealed by experts who asked 868 men and women how often they were sexually active while stuck at home.
At the start of lockdown 33.5 per cent said they were doing it at least once a week. After six days the figure rose to 37.7 per cent and 47 per cent after 11 days or more.
They were sexually active on average 1.75 times a week. But men said they were having 3.2 sessions a week on average — four times as many as the women surveyed.
Dr Lee Smith, a sports scientist at Anglia Rus-kin University, said the men might have been pleasuring themselves — or exaggerating — while women were just modest.

Dr Smith said: “It might be that the lockdown has given people the opportunity to connect again.”
Sex also has positive effects on our health and immunity, scientists say.
