BISTO has recalled batches of its Original Gravy Powder sold in Asda over allergy fears.
Premier Foods, the company behind Bisto, has issued the recall as some batches contain milk, which isn’t declared on the label.
Bisto has recalled certain batched of its Gravy Powder purchased from Asda stores in the north east [/caption]This could mean it’s a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
Symptoms of a lactose intolerance can include diarrhoea, a bloated stomach, stomach cramps and pains, and feeling sick, according to the NHS.
Affected batches were only sold in certain Asda stores in the north east of England where they cost £2.29.
They have the following details on the packet:
- a best before date of “March 2022”
- a lot number of “0092 A5”
- a time code of between 22:41 and 22:47
- and a barcode of “5000354909979”
The Sun has asked both Asda and Premier Foods, exactly which stores sold the affected batches and we’ll update this story if we get a response – but Premier Foods says the faulty batch has since been removed from sale.
If you have an affected packet of Bisto and an intolerance to milk or its constituents, return the item to the store you bought it from for a full refund. You do not need your receipt.
Alternatively, you can fill in this online form on Premier Foods website for a refund.
Premier Foods says no other products or date codes are affected.
In a statement it added: “We take stringent measures to ensure the safety and correct labelling of our products and apologise for any concern this may cause our consumers and customers.”
For further information, contact Premier Foods on 0800 085 3959 or call Asda on 0800 952 0101.
