Who is Nick Bailey and where is he now? Detective played by Rafe Spall in The Salisbury Poisonings
A CHILLING three-part TV series telling the story of the 2018 Salisbury novichok poisonings is coming to BBC One on June 14.
Rafe Spall plays Sergeant Nick Bailey, who was was left seriously ill after he rushed to the aid of Sergei Skripal, the former Russian spy poisoned along with his daughter in Salisbury a year ago.
Who is Nick Bailey?
Nick Bailey is a police officer in the Wiltshire Police and was rushed to hospital after he speeded to help Mr Skripal and his daughter following a suspected nerve agent attack in Salisbury.
He remained in hospital for almost three weeks.
After further investigation, it was discovered that the nerve agent had been administered to the property’s door handle, and that DS Bailey had become contaminated during his investigation of the house.
DS Bailey, his wife and children were unable to return to their home, as he had unknowingly contaminated the property when he returned.
DS Bailey, who was awake and talking just days after he rushed to hospital, was discharged on March 22, 2018.
Where is he now?
Detective Bailey returned to work in January 2019 with Wiltshire Police.
Nick Bailey ran the Salisbury Marathon last August, to raise money for the intensive care unit at the hospital where staff saved his life.

Latest on the Russia poison plot
They were found slumped on a bench in a “catatonic state” and anti-terror police are investigating CCTV believed to show the Russian father and daughter before they fell ill.
Russia’s UK embassy has denied that their special services were involved.
Mrs Rudd has said the incident is being treated as attempted murder and told the House of Commons: “The use of nerve agent on UK soil is a brazen and reckless act. This was attempted murder in the most cruel and public way.”
