NEARLY 90 percent of Americans believe the country is in crisis due to the George Floyd unrest and coronavirus pandemic, new research shows.
Democrats are more concerned about police violence and the lack of COVID-19 precautions, while Republicans are especially worried about rioting and looting, according to the Navigator polling group.
Eighty-eight percent of the country says that the US is in crisis while another eight percent says it is not.
Four percent is undecided.
A whopping 96 percent of Democrats feel the country is in crisis, compared to 79 percent for Republicans.
About 90 percent of African Americans say we are in crisis, and 88 percent of whites feel the same way.
“While a vast majority of Americans across party lines say that both the pandemic and recent protests are major crises or problems, Democrats are more likely to say each is a ‘major crisis’ than independents or Republicans,” the Navigator report states.
Navigator found that African Americans are more likely to describe each as a “major crisis.”
Americans are concerned about nursing home vulnerability to COVID-19 “across party lines,” according to Navigator.
Additionally, more than two in three Americans say they are pro-mask and more than three in five say they are more on the side of being cautious about reopening than pushing to reopen.
More than 1,000 registered voters participated in the survey and 343 interviews were conducted with independents “with no partisan lean.”
A staggering two million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the US, and 115,000 have died.
The crisis likely will not end until a vaccine becomes available, but that might not happen until 2021.
