And things only got worse when it was explained that Fletch’s cancer was high-grade and was likely to have spread throughout his body.
This week’s episodes of Holby City will see Fletch anxiously wait for the date of his operation.
The upcoming scenes will see Fletch breathe a sigh of relief when the scan shows that his cancer hasn’t spread.
He’s also thankful for the support of his partner Ange, who vows to stick by his side.

But he’s baffled later when he receives an odd gift – which he thinks is from Ange.
Having got the wrong end of the stick over the aforementioned present, Fletch later causes chaos among his colleagues.
When he discovers the gift is actually for the slightly more flamboyant Sacha – to thank him for persuading Essie to carry on with her chemotherapy – Fletch is left kicking himself for making such a huge blunder.
Fletch then tries to minimize the effects of his mistake – but is it too late?
Actor Alex Walkinshaw – who plays Fletch on the BBC soap – said of his character’s cancer storyline: “The way most people would react to it, he’s shocked, devastated and scared.
