Retired Chris Tredwell was walking his daughter’s dogs when the 3ft reptile “brushed past his nose” as it plunged out of the sky.

The grandad of five stood back in shock — until he realised it was a non-venomous grass snake.
Chris, a former Walkers factory worker, said: “I spotted a crow just a few yards away. It took off and I thought it had picked up a bit of rope for its nest.
“It flew towards me and I could see it had a snake but couldn’t manage it because it was too heavy.
“It couldn’t fly properly with the snake, which was writhing around, and then the bird nearly dropped it on my head.
“I didn’t half jump. I’ve enough trouble avoiding coronavirus without dealing with snakes.”
Chris, who was in Hartsholme Country Park in Lincoln last week, added: “When it landed, it was stunned. I whipped out my iPhone and snapped the photos. Then it made off towards the undergrowth.”

Holly Kirk, from Lincoln Reptile and Pet Centre, said Chris’s experience is “very unusual”.
She added: “Grass snakes are pretty common but not in these circumstances.”
The grass snake is one of four species of the reptiles native to the UK.
