Valtteri Bottas starts the race in pole position ahead of world champion and team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who avoided a grid penalty for failing to slow for yellow flags, and for exceeding track limits in an earlier Q3 lap.

Hamilton is out to claim his seventh world title this season and will race in a special black Mercedes to support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

What time does the F1 Austrian Grand Prix start?

  • The Austrian Grand Prix race commences at 2.10pm TODAY.
  • Formula One’s season begins at the The Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
  • As usual the race schedule takes place over three days – practice, qualifying and finally race day itself.
  • Qualifying took place on July 4 and saw Bottas pip Hamilton to pole position, with Max Verstappen third.
