Woman totally revamps dated kitchen including new floor for just £60 – and people can’t tell it is the same room

A woman has left fellow homeowners gobsmacked after revamping her kitchen for just £60.

Annette Vasey, who is based in the UK, moved into the house last October but felt it needed renovations “from top-to-bottom”, so she decided to make the most of her spare time during lockdown.

In a complete overhaul of her kitchen, Annette used budget items such as £5 car spray paint for her dated worktops, and spent around 40 hours transforming the room.

Posting before and after pictures on the DIY on a Budget UK Facebook group, fellow members were left stunned by how different the kitchen looked.

One person commented: “That’s amazing,” while another added: “That’s a wow effect. Had to double take, it’s amazing.”

A third person said: “So much better, well done. It can’t of been easy,” while a fourth person wrote: “Looks lovely.”

Among Annette’s kitchen bargains was a £5 black car spray paint from Boyes and clear fablon from Wilkinson’s, which cost her just £10.

Annette’s sister also managed to find a £5 sink for sale on Facebook’s Marketplace, which Annette updated with £20 taps from Screwfix.

To transform her kitchen, Annette bought the following items...

Clear satin varnish from Boyes – £4

Rustoleum graphite cupboard paint from Homebase – £14

Speaking to the Mail Online, Annette explained: “We moved into this house in October and it needs updating from top to bottom, and rewiring.

“So I decided to try and update the kitchen as cheaply as possible.”

Referring to anyone who is thinking of doing a revamp, she added: “Any advice, take your time, and don’t try to do it all in a day. It takes time, but the results are worth it in the end.”
